FREE High School Math Tutoring!

This program is available to all high school students, grades 9th - 12th. Knowledgeable tutors will be available to assist students on math homework assignments, understanding concepts, and studying for exams. Tutors are all adults with most having a Bachelors of Science degree in a technical field including engineering or science. Tutors will be able to connect math homework problems with real life examples.

 

**Due to limited spots, registration is required for attendance!**

College Bound Workshop 2012
 
The goal of the workshop is to motivate and guide students and families for success in higher education and beyond.
 
This workshop is FREE and will allow teens the opportunity to receive financial aid information, learn and ease the application process from college advisors and high school counselors, network with current college students, discover exciting career paths from young professionals, and learn about the various higher education opportunities including university, community college, and military options.

Future Next Corporation seeks to bring affordable after school, summer academic enrichment, and college readiness programs to our area’s most vulnerable youth. This includes life skills courses that will raise awareness and empower youth to take charge of their lives. Our program pledges to offer guidance that will keep youth engaged, encouraged, challenged, and motivated to complete high school while also preparing for their life after high school.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Juniors & Seniors in the DC, MD, or VA areas
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Have at least a 2.8 overall GPA
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent people skills – ability to work cooperatively with others at all levels
  • Ability to meet deadlines and attend weekly phone meetings
  • Frequent access to a computer and internet

TIME COMMITTMENT

Interns will work virtually from March through June and be expected to contribute 5 hours per week and attend events on weekends on an as needed basis. Interns will be notified of events at least 2 weeks prior.

Compensation

Interns will be compensated with a stipend at the completion of the internship program.

POSITIONS

MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

Assist in developing and maintaining social media initiatives – includes drafting messages and project planning. Potential responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of publicity documents and newsletter
  • Compile and manage media lists
  • Development of collateral and marketing materials for programs
  • Support FNC website, Twitter, and Facebook development and postings

PROGRAMMING INTERN

Intern will assist in the management of FNC programs, including event planning, execution, and administration. Potential responsibilities:

  • Support pre-event planning activities including administrative logistics, attendee materials, and registration.
  • Assist with agenda development including issuance of speaker invitations, securing confirmations, and speaker database maintenance.
  • Support follow-up activities including issuing thank you letters, updating contact lists, and compiling evaluation reports.
  • Maintain FNC events calendar

DEVELOPMENT INTERN

The purpose of this position to assist in development and growth of Future Next in both financial growth and volunteer support. Potential responsibilities:   

  • Conduct research and help organize various fundraising events
  • Conduct research for grant-writers
  • Write solicitation letters, thank-you letters, and email outreach               
  • Maintain databases of donor contacts
  • Develop and plan volunteer recruitment initiative with support of the marketing and communications team

Program Flyer

A 6-week engaging math program focused on enforcing fraction and basic algebra skills. Program will include lessons tailored to student’s skill level, individual tutoring, and interactive games to link skills to real world applications.
